Life Coaching
Life Coaching is all about getting the best out of someone and helping
them to make the decisions that they need to in order to improve their
life. The difference between coaching
and other therapeutic professions
is that it does not claim to have the answers to your problems in fact
quite the opposite is true. It acknowledges that you have all the answers
you need. Therefore the Coach's job is not to feed you solutions or judgements
but to work with client to help them find the answers themselves.
A coach will work with you to identify your 'real' goals. In order to achieve these goals your coach may help you identify other aspects of life (e.g. Health fitness, finances, stress management, etc) that you will want to work on to achieve your 'real' goals.
Sometimes we focus on our short term or obvious goals not understanding
the underlying reason we want to attain them. For example, many people
set the goal of "wanting to earn more money". However this can often become
the overriding focus. What they don't think about is why they want to
achieve it? A Coach will help you understand your 'real' goals by asking
questions such as "If you were to achieve this goal, how would your life
be better?" "How would you feel?" "What would you be able to do that you
couldn't do now?" Are there other ways in which you can achieve that feeling/better
situation?
By asking, supporting and sometimes challenging you a Coach will help you flush out what it is you really want out of life and motivate you towards achieving it. Coaching can be conducted where ever you feel comfortable. After an initial consultation at the practice. Sessions can be conducted over the phone so there are no boundaries!
